Supplemental Educational Services

Supplemental Educational Services (SES) are additional academic instructional assistance in the form of face-to-face or online tutorials that are rendered outside regular school hours to all students from low-income families. According to the No Child Left Behind Act [Public Law 107-110, Section 1116(e)(12)(C)], supplemental educational services must be high-quality, research-based, and specifically designed to enhance student achievement.

Supplemental Educational Services (SES) are offered at no cost to the parent or guardian. Parents or guardians have the opportunity to choose an SES tutorial service from the approved Aldine SES Provider List that best meets the academic needs of their student.

Title I campuses in Stages 2-5 of AYP School Improvement are required to offer Supplemental Educational Services to all eligible students. For the 2011-2012 and the 2012-2013 school years, Nimitz High School has been identified as an Aldine campus that must provide Supplemental Educational Services for eligible students.

SES parent packets were mailed to eligible students enrolled at Nimitz High School on October 12th. Included in the packets were a Parent Notification Letter, a list of tutorial providers, one page summary sheets for each listed provider, and an SES enrollment form. Enrollment for SES services began October 15th and will be ongoing throughout the year. To enroll a student, the parent or guardian must complete the enrollment form and return it to the Nimitz High School office or the enrollment form can be brought to the 2nd floor of the Central Office.
