Two students from Nimitz Senior High School placed in the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts 2012 Student Art Contest and Juried Exhibition.

In the Division I Category, Jacob Merritt earned third place and $300 for his artwork entitled “Three on Me” while schoolmate Alessandra Avilés’ artwork entitled “Looking at You” was selected for a Juried Exhibition at the Pearl.

The purpose of the contest is to recognize the artistic achievements of area students and to increase community involvement at the museum.

Students in Grades 1-12 who attend public, private, and home school and reside in Aldine ISD, Conroe ISD, Cy-Fair ISD, Klein ISD, Magnolia ISD, Spring ISD, and Tomball ISD are encouraged to participate in the annual contest. Each district could only submit 25 entries.

Each year the Pearl recognizes 27 student artists — 12 place winners and 15 in the Juried Exhibition.
