After advancing from the district-level science fair held earlier this school year, several Aldine ISD students placed and earned special awards at the regional event known as the Science Engineering Fair of Houston (SEFH), held Feb. 28-Mar. 1 at the George R. Of these young scientists and engineers, two AISD students qualified to compete at the State ExxonMobil Science and Engineering Fair, which is set for March 26-29 at the Henry B. Hudnall and Langenbuch both expressed their pride over their students’ achievements.

“I have enjoyed working with this group of students,” declared Hudnall. “They did an excellent job and I could not be more proud of them. We have become a close group and I can hardly wait to see how they do at Science Fair next year!”

Langenbuch added, “We always expect our students to achieve…and they didn’t let us down! We are extremely proud of them. We also thank Principal Dr. Crystal Watson-Barrow for her encouragement and support.”

Jeffery also related her praise for Banks.

“I am so proud of Diamonds on her achievement at the regional science fair,” commented Jeffery. “Not only did she win first place in the plant science category but she also received a Naval Science Award from the Office of Naval Research. These are two great accomplishments! I couldn’t be more proud of her.”

There are different rules for students to advance from the regional event to the state competition. In the Junior Division, first place, second and third place winners in individual and team projects advance. Only first place winners in individual and team projects in the Ninth Grade Division advance to state. And in the Senior Division, first and second place winners in individual projects advance while only first place winners in team categories advance to the state event.
