Scott CorrickHill Intermediate Principal Scott Corrick has been appointed to the Scholastic Book Fairs National Principals Advisory Board.

Comprising 16 principals from public, private, and parochial schools across the country, the Principals Advisory Board helps Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education, and media company, better understand the challenges faced by educators across the country, while aiding the company in its ongoing effort to support teachers and administrators.

“In our joint quest to promote higher school standards, we depend on principals to help us find new ways to improve reading proficiency and introduce more children to the joy of reading great books,” said Alan Boyko, president of Scholastic Book Fairs. “We’re delighted to have Scott on our advisory team. He is widely respected inside and outside the classroom, and we know that his enthusiasm and commitment to literacy and learning will help us turn more kids into avid, life-long readers.”

The board meets annually and conducts quarterly phone workshops to share best practices aimed at improving literacy, encouraging parental involvement in student academics, and boosting student achievement. Member insights help Scholastic Book Fairs carry out their mission to promote independent reading, a critical step in making certain that students meet today’s rigorous Common Core State Standards.

Corrick has been an educator for 20 years and has served as Hill Intermediate’s principal for four years. He also is a member of the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association. He will serve a two-year term on the board.
