Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo 2017 Roundup of Winners
Several Aldine ISD student artists earned recognition. One AISD artwork sold for BIG bucks at auction.
Yes, the Rodeo is over. Before it ended, the HLSR held an Awards Ceremony that honored [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]District winners of the Student Art Contest.
And for those that missed it, young artist Ja’Varie Sparks-Thomas was a hit with auctioneers. The Kujawa Elementary School student’s work titled “Dinner? … I Dare You!” sold for $47,000!
His proud art teacher is Kelly Patterson. HLSR Student Art Committee named [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Ja’Varie the Elementary Class Champion.
As the Class Champion, Ja’Varie advanced to the auction. He’ll receive a guaranteed premium of $5,500. The rest will go toward student HLSR scholarships.
According to Patterson, Ja’Varie’s work was the first elementary piece to go to auction in the HLSR area competition.
