Let’s send a Texas-sized thank you to every principal for their daily leadership in fostering a positive climate and culture for students and staff.
Each October, National Principals’ Month recognizes the essential role that principals play in making a school great.
Principals are among the hardest working, yet often least recognized individuals in education. Principals set the academic tone for their schools, and it is their vision, dedication, and determination that provide the mobilizing force for achieving student success.
Did you know…?
- According to the Wallace Foundation, leadership is second only to instruction in school-based factors that affect student achievement.
- In a decade of intensive research, the Wallace Foundation identified no documented case of school turnaround absent an effective leader.
National Principals’ Month is a widely recognized celebration of the principalship. It is marked by national and state resolutions supporting the event, as well as acknowledgments from U.S. senators and representatives, and top government officials as they seek to honor these unsung heroes for their tireless efforts in pursuit of excellence in education.
The District actively encourages schools and communities to come together to honor their school leaders during October and to be reminded that principals appreciate “thank you” messages throughout the year. A personal commitment of time and professional leadership to the school community they serve are critical attributes of school success.
