District to Hold First Active Parent University Session of Spring Semester

The program connects families to district and community resources. Active Parent University also teaches families how to be engaged and involved in their children’s education.

Active Parent University returns this spring semester. The first class will take place on Thursday, January 16, at the Aldine ISD M.B. “Sonny” Donaldson Child Nutrition Center, 1802 Aldine Bender Road (Houston, TX 77032). The session starts at 8:15 a.m.

The program, now in its fourth year, introduces families to Aldine ISD programs and also connects them to community partners.

Parent University is a community collaborative led by the District’s Title 1 Department to help families become full partners in their children’s education. Each session equips families with new or additional skills, knowledge, and resources to increase their children’s success in school and life.

Why Be Involved?

Research has shown that parents and legal guardians can increase a child’s academic success through their involvement with schools and communities. Family engagement improves student morale, attitudes, and academic achievement across all subject areas. Abrams encourages legal guardians and grandparents raising kids to attend Active Parent University.
