Aldine ISD Celebrates National School Nurses Day

Take time to celebrate and recognize the contributions that school nurses are making to the health and learning of our students.

School Nurse Day 2019School nurses are important to our students. They are the unsung heroes for many children, and sometimes the only health care provider these children will see.

Join Aldine ISD in celebrating them and the work they do on National School Nurse Day today, May 8, 2019. This year’s theme is School Nurses: Making the Grade on School Health. Visit your child’s campus nurse or drop a quick thank-you note for him or her.

School nurses are instrumental in creating a healthy school environment. However, school nursing is more than applying bandages, taking temperatures and record keeping. School nurses also juggle an array of medical and social issues. Not only do they care for ill and injured students, but they also help teachers create a more effective learning environment by recognizing students’ developmental abilities.

Other issues that school nurses address may include good hygiene, oral health, visual health, illness prevention, nutrition, self-esteem, and mental health.

Aldine ISD applauds the work, care, and love school nurses give to the children in our District.

Thank you for making a difference in students’ lives!
