The District won the H-E-B/Texas Association of School Administrators Excellence in Education Early Childhood Award in 2015. The annual award spotlights best practices. It also celebrates the passion and creativity of educators.
Aldine ISD currently has eight facilities completely devoted to meet the needs of prekindergarten students. Responding to early education research, District leaders continue their investment in early childhood education. Four additional campuses will open in fall 2018 to bring the total to 12 schools.
Each school, which is staffed with early childhood certified teachers and instructional assistants, is devoted to developing the leaders of the future, fostering oral language development and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
High-Quality Preschool Programs Give Students a Leg Up on Math, Literacy and Their Future
Some of the nation’s top researchers came together to review the evidence on the impact of state-funded prekindergarten programs. Researchers from Georgetown University, Vanderbilt University, Duke University, and the Brookings Institution comprised the task force. Their findings were published in the report titled The Current State of Scientific Knowledge on Pre-Kindergarten Effect. They came away with one clear, strong message:
Kids who attend public preschool programs are better prepared for kindergarten than kids who don’t.
There are many studies also showing that the benefits of preschool may extend far beyond academics. Preschool brings long-term gains in high school, college graduation and employment.
