Carver High’s Amber Nicole Advances to Live Rounds on ‘The Voice’
Amber Nicole Scott, a senior at Carver High School, sang “Mamma Knows Best” by Jessie J in the knock out rounds that aired Oct. 28 on NBC. Even though her coach was impressed, Amber Nicole lost to Josh Logan, who sang Stevie Wonder’s “Living for the City,” for a continuing spot on Team Christina Aguilera.
After Coach Christina made her decision, host Carson Daly mentioned Amber Nicole was up for a steal. While Amber Nicole thanked Christina both CeeLo Green and Blake Shelton pressed their buttons to steal her for their respective teams. Amber Nicole thanked both and decided to join Team CeeLo for the live rounds.
Each of the coaches praised Amber Nicole’s performance on the bluesy-jazz inclined song.
“That was a great song choice,” commented CeeLo Green. “You delivered so much character and were still able to sing a difficult song.”
Adam Levine added, “You really delivered that. Everything you could pack in those 90 seconds, you did.”
Amber Nicole also garnered praise from Blake Shelton who is impressed by the talent she has at the tender age of 17.
There are still more knock out rounds to be aired before the live rounds begin. In the live rounds, the public votes for their favorite artists until a winner is eventually declared.
“This is a huge jump for Nicole because she now moves to the live rounds and will need viewers’ votes to continue on the show,” said Rosalyn Sweat, principal at Carver High School. “In the live rounds, each contestant will have a phone number assigned to them that viewers can use to vote on their favorite contestant. I hope everyone joins us in supporting Amber once the live rounds begin.”
