Aldine ISD Students Place at 2015 Regional Science Fair

Several Aldine ISD students [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]placed and earned special awards at the regional science fair. Hundreds of students from across the region competed at the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Science Engineering Fair of Houston. The SEFH event took place during the spring semester at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

To advance to the regional event, students must place first, second and third at the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]district event. Aldine ISD had more than 90 students who were eligible to advance to regionals. They represented more than 70 individual and team projects. The middle and high school students competed in a wide range of STEM categories. The acronym stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Irineo Sánchez from [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Davis High School placed third in the Electrical and Mechanical Category. His project entitled “Creating Time With Wheels and Gears” also earned another recognition. He received a special award from the Boys Scouts of America-Sam Houston Area Council.

The team of Derian Fraga and Daniel Sánchez from [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]MacArthur High School earned an Honorable Mention. They competed in the Engineering and Physical Sciences Category. Their project “Vortexual Nuclear Fusion” also captured another honor. The received a special award from the Health Physics Society.

Two [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Nimitz Ninth Grade School students placed in the SEFH Poster Contest. Jocelynn Almaraz won first place and Luis Castillo earned an Honorable Mention.
